A Contemporary Chandelier in Response to a Changing World

Beautiful and precarious, In Flux is a sculptural reinterpretation of the traditional Venetian chandelier, created using time-honoured Murano glass-blowing techniques—reimagined through the unique lens of the Crystal Chain Gang.

Developed in response to a research trip to Italy in late 2019, the work transforms the expected opulence of classic chandeliers into something far more visceral. Uniform crystal beads give way to organic, pastel-hued forms suspended in a structure that echoes the cellular—suggestive of both fragility and transformation.

In Flux speaks to the uncertain balance between economy and wellbeing, tradition and disruption. Created during the global pandemic, it channels the unease of our times into a luminous, sculptural form—where beauty and instability coexist in tension.

A reflection of a world in motion, In Flux is both a homage and a critique: rooted in glassmaking tradition, yet unafraid to fracture its conventions.
